A Feature Rich LCD: Samsung LN52B550 LCD HDTV Samsung has created an excellent 52 inch full HD (1080p) display that provides viewers a supurb audio and visual experience. We were most impressed with the LN52B550’s rich picture quality, which was excellent regardless of the definition settings (from standard definition 480p to full HD 1080p). The sharp picture and rich color displays are primarily attributed to the television’s very strong 70,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio designed to provide more realistic images and a super fast 6ms (millisecond) response time, which virtually eliminated any blurring and providing smooth motion while watching fast-paced sports, gaming, and action movies.

In addition to the Samsung LN52B550’s top of its class picture quality, this flat panel is equipped with a variety of additional features that today’s viewers will greatly appreciate. Samsung’s Anynet+ technology allows the TV’s remote control to operate at the push of one button, peripheral AV devices such as a DVD player featuring HDMI-CEC, which removes the need to utilize multiple remote controls to watch programming. The system’s game mode function also enhances dark areas, sharpens the picture, speeds up the image processing response and enhances the sounds quality when the system is used with HD gaming systems. The incorporation of Samsung’s mid-level Color Enhancer 2 technology gives colors more natural and realistic hues that are sometimes missing with other LCD displays. In addition to these great features the Samsung’s initial set up process was very straightforward and simple to follow. We felt the default set up walk through did a great job optimizing picture and sound settings.
Connectivity is not is short supply with the Samsung LN52B550. The system is equipped with a single USB port–for playing MP3 audio and displaying JPEG/MPEG files–and four HDMI 1.3 ports, and it also provides ample sound thanks to dual 10-watt, two-way stereo speakers and an integrated subwoofer. This HDTV is accented by Samsung’s newly introduced TOC (Touch of Color) bezel design, which offers a hint of red translucent color around the edges of the unit that completes the panel’s cutting edge design. And as with all B550 series LCD televisions, this LCD is Energy Star 3.0 compliant, which has increased the energy efficiency of this model over last year’s model by a solid 25 percent!
In addition to our positive reviews on this television, other consumers have been very impressed with this Samsung LCD as well.
